Pro Football Talk - Chiefs fans expressing their anger with organization
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-organization/
Arrowhead Stadium used to be known as one of the hardest places to hear in the league. Now, you’ll probably be able to hear the engines of the plane dragging an anti-Chiefs banner around today’s game against the Ravens. According to Sam Mellinger of the Kansas City Star, the banner which will read “WE DESERVE BETTER! FIRE PIOLI — BENCH CASSEL” will be flown over the parking lot, expressing the fanbase’s dissatisfaction with general manager Scott Pioli and quarterback Matt Cassel. The money to have the banner printed and flown was raised in less than an hour. “There’s some passion behind that message,” said Corey Leuwerki, a pilot for company who made the message. “Because money is not normally raised this quick.” It’s not just that the Chiefs are 1-3, with the lone win over a Saints team that has more problems at the moment than they do. It’s the apparent lack of direction, and the lack of hope based on recent results. The Chiefs have lost nine of their last 12 home games, four of them by at least 21 points. Since the win came in overtime, they haven’t led for a second of game time this year, trailing in 204 of a possible 249 minutes. That has a city that’s known its share of failure (the Royals play next door) as unhappy as ever. And the message will fly over the stadium today. |
Word has spread like whores on prom night.

what if Pioli and his secret agents shoot the plane down with some sort of hidden SAM anti aircraft missile Pioli has installed around Arrowhead?
fat scott is crazy enough to do that |
This is the first time we're seeing national media scrutinize Pioli (and, to some level, Cassel). And most seem to agree that the resume doesn't look good. So the banner has worked to some level.
If Cassel has a bad performance, I think the floodgate of national scrutiny opens. Of course it will never beat Cowboys or Giants news. But I can't imagine national sports coverage wouldn't talk about it, and maybe even use the video clip. Great job, PR. This is starting conversation outside of Kansas City that probably wouldn't have been possible if not for the banner. The conversation has changed among national media from "wow, the Chiefs are bad" to "wow... Pioli has been here for 4 years and accomplished nothing." |
