KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -
Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has reportedly offered general manager Scott Pioli a two-year extension.
CBS Sports reports Pioli has yet to sign the contract.
Jason La Canfora, a CBS Sports NFL Insider reporter, said that the buyout language in the contract is one of the reasons why an agreement has yet to be struck.
Some Chiefs fans have been in support of firing Pioli and even flew a banner over Arrowhead last week calling for his firing.
The news might also be shocking with the franchise's 1-4 record this year under Pioli. The Chiefs are 22-32 since he took over in 2009.
Pioli was previously a front office executive for the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets and New England Patriots.
He served as director, and later vice president of player personnel for the Patriots from 2001 to 2008 and helped them win three Super Bowl championships.
Both Hunt and Pioli have declined to comment on the report.
