Arsenic in US rice
Organic rice baby cereal, rice breakfast cereals, brown rice, white rice—new tests by Consumer Reports have found that those and other types of rice products on grocery shelves contain arsenic, many at worrisome levels....

If you ate a serving of rice every day with inorganic arsenic levels 10x the threshold level selected by Consumer Reports, your lifetime cancer risk would be about 5 individuals affected out of a population of 100,000 individuals indulging in identical behavior.
I might avoid rice baby foods but otherwise the CR article would not change my behavior. I referred to the following epidemiological study concerning the risk of arsenic in drinking water in making my assessment: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti...00308-0117.pdf |
