Jarvis Jones, a Georgia outside linebacker who is viewed as a potential first overall pick in the 2013 NFL draft, has made his decision: Heís leaving school to go pro.
That decision has been expected all year, as Jones has been discussed as one of the best pro prospects in college football. ESPNís Mel Kiper ranks Jones as the best player at any position in this yearís draft.
Jones has led the SEC in sacks in each of the last two seasons, and he also led the NCAA in forced fumbles in 2012. There may be questions, however, about whether heís a consistent every-down player, and there could also be questions about his injury history: He started his college career at USC and transferred after the schoolís doctors recommended that he quit football because of spinal stenosis. Georgiaís doctors have cleared him to play and he has had no further neck problems, but he did have ankle, groin and shoulder injuries that hampered him at times in 2012 and caused him to miss two games.
If Jones is healthy, however, scouts may drool over his ability to get to the quarterback. With the Chiefs owning the first overall pick in the draft, Andy Reid could be coaching Jones in Kansas City next year.

If we go 4-3 it would be almost worth taking this guy over a QB since Hali would become a DE. Almost.

I wish clowney could go pro

He can't. You have to be 3 years removed from your senior year in high school.

Don't worry, we can trade for Alex Smith and get that kid from Louisville next year, or draft the kid with the neck in the fifth!

Jarvis Jones is going to play 3-4 OLB in the pros.

What's worse is that he suggests we should take Jones if we're going to a 4-3.

Jones is a 3-4 OLB in the NFL.

Reid will have a plan. I trust him with our QB situation, bringing in three new guys.

DJ's left nut 01-04-2013 10:55 AM

If Jarvis Jones were Clowney, I might care.

As it is, he's no better an OLB prospect than Smith is a QB prospect and we need the QB significantly more.

if we aren't taking a QB at 1 (which I think is retarded), I'd rather have Jones than T'eo etc.
