I wish he would have picked up a bottle of whiskey instead, but this is still pretty ****ing stupid.

[edit] The thread, not the having to drink water thing.

For many people watching, this was probably their first exposure to Rubio.

The lasting impression will be his flop sweat (wiping his face several times) and the water bottle reach.

This looks less than presidential. Good thing 2016 is a long way away.

Count Zarth 02-12-2013 11:39 PM

How presidential is this?

After Bobby Jindal completely destroyed himself as a national candidate after his response to the SOTU, I don't know how anybody with national ambitions would think this is a good idea.

If you do a good job, nobody's going to remember you. Meanwhile, if the lights are too hot and you end up thirsty/sweaty, you're just done in the eyes of an electorate that has the attention span of a moth.

Just stay the !@#$ away from these things and leave the responses to guys like Boehner that already have already pretty much locked in their career tracks.

Yeah, I didn't think it was THAT bad a gaff. Better than choking on your words. I will say that they should have had the foresight to put it in arms reach as well as getting an actual cup. Not that I'm going all Captain Planet but plastic bottles are a no-no.

CrazyPhuD 02-12-2013 11:56 PM

He should have just picked up a Dos Equis and said....'Stay thirsty my friends'

cosmo will fixate on this for at least a year.

Do you think anyone remembers what Rubio said in his response last night? No. The water bottle reach is going to get all the attention on late night shows, SNL, etc.

I'm sure MSNBC will spend a great deal of time on it.

As will the rest of the Obama shills. By that I mean the media.
