I-5 Bridge Collapse in Washington over the Skagit River. Cars in thewater, Coast Guard being called in to help with the rescue.

It was Minneapolis or St. Paul where this happened a few years ago. I don't remember how many people died.

Yup. It was the I-35 bridge over the Mississippi.

It collapsed the day I moved up there for grad school. I was suppose to use that bridge as my classes were on the east bank and I lived on the west side.

...I had to find a new way to get to class.

Damn that's sad. I still can't understand why, while people are desperately needing jobs, we aren't supplying jobs by fixing our infrastructure. How is that not a win/win ??

Having bridges just fall apart every few years is embarrassing. We built a great infrastructure in the 50's, and now we're just letting it decay.
