Obama pledges $7B to Africa power generation

US in massive debt, millions unemployed, and no White House tours due to sequestration. But we have the greenbacks for this?

"Access to electricity is fundamental to opportunity in this age. It's the light that children study by, the energy that allows an idea to be transformed into a real business. It's the lifeline for families to meet their most basic needs, and it's the connection that's needed to plug Africa into the grid of the global economy," he said.

LOL. It's probably going to be coal power.

Dunerdr 06-30-2013 04:18 PM

Plus our economy needs another place to send buisness our labor is too expensive.

Prison Bitch 06-30-2013 04:53 PM

If its coal powered he's a hypocrite on energy. If its expensive "alt energy" powered then he's a hypocrite on fiscal responsibility.

Bwana 06-30-2013 04:56 PM

These sorry ****ers just don't get it, never will get it and think money grows on trees.

You don't understand. It's our duty to ensure that everyone in the world has the exact same living standard we do. If that involves bankrupting ourselves then that's just the price we'll have to pay.

I think you have to actually HAVE a fiscal policy to be a hypocrite on it.

Thinking money grows on trees and/or someone else will pay for it is the progressive way.

The thing they never think about is reality can't be avoided.

stonedstooge 06-30-2013 06:38 PM

I thought the talk was this trip was going to make us money

Munson 06-30-2013 06:50 PM

I thought he wanted to do some nation building, right here in the good ol' USA.

Turns out he was full of shit. Big surprise.

BucEyedPea 06-30-2013 06:57 PM

Crony capitalist power. ( aka neo-mercantilist ) It should make some corp happy. I think some R presidents would be doing the same.

Prison Bitch 06-30-2013 07:01 PM

There's a very good reason he's opposing Keystone:

I agree with Obama on this one, but for entirely different reasons. It's oil is to go to China, not us. It is rife with eminent domain abuse, which is why Tea Partiers in those areas are protesting it.

Don't forget that Obama's buddy Warren Buffet owns BNSF, and gets to transport a lot of that oil. The Keystone XL pipeline would be bad for business.

And is a vested interest for making more money off of ACA. Technically Obama is a corporatist.
