ADT home security systems.

Does anyone have an ADT system. If so, are you happy with what you have, and do you think its worth the $40+ bucks a month. I am trying to figure out if I want to go with ADT or have another company come in and take over monitoring. ADT is $42.99 a month and you have to sign a 3 year contract. I can go with another monitoring company that is smaller, but charges $20 per month. If ADT is awesome, I will stay with them, but if they aren't all that great I will go with company B and save the $200 a year.

I've had ADT for more than a decade and I'm very happy.

Does the $42.95 per include ADT's Pulse system? How many sensors and cameras?

The $42.99 includes motion sensors on all access points (doors and windows) and in the hallways, also includes fire protection. I don't have any cameras.

Used in four houses over the years.

Monitoring is not the expensive part. Installation of sensors is the killer.

Beat on them to give you the best deal. Threaten to go elsewhere. It works.

Do you mean to get the $42.99 down?

I have ADT, but I pay under $40 and have no contract. I've had no problems with them. I test the system regularly and they respond quickly.

The discount you receive on your homeowners insurance can offset your cost a little.

How did you manage that?

No Pulse? You might want to check it out to see if it would be good for your home. It allows you to arm and disarm your alarm system from any mobile device or desktop PC, to view cameras remotely and to monitor the status of your system's sensors, whether you're home or away.

I pay $49.99 for the Pulse system.

Could be that my house was already wired up when I bought it. They just updated the sensors and turned it on. Looking at my 2012 budget, I paid 35.99/mo which went up to 37.78/mo in 2013. That was the price they quoted me.

Yeah this system (in the house we just bought) has keypads like a car keypad, but no pulse.

We've had it for 12 years now. No problems. Although it might not be a bad idea to see if we can upgrade our 12 year old system.

Just be aware that TECHNICALLY they can listen to you through the intercom / keypad. So if you're involved with the mob or a drug Cartell you might not want .

I am cancelling mine. It's a good product I guess. I don't even turn the thing on anymore. In addition their contracted installers in my area are people I don't want anywhere near my house.

I also find older security system cumbersome and difficult to manage. If I want to change something its almost like I have to do the shit binary.
