A Football Life : Marty Schottenheimer

Next Tuesday.

They flashed a bit of the kicker who shall go unnamed. And then cut to Marty saying, "It was the biggest mistake of my life." I'm assuming Grbac/Gannon.

It's been long enough. I want to see it.

Actually I think the biggest mistake he's referring to is him leaving KC.

In his book he talks about regretting it.

KcMizzou 12-10-2013 09:19 PM

Interesting. Anyway, I want to see it.

AussieChiefsFan 12-10-2013 09:24 PM

Yeah, when it shows the clip about the biggest mistake he's ever made, I thought it was about him leaving Kansas City.

When he did leave, though, the general feeling was that it was time. All the buzz was that you can only spend so much time in one place. All those great speeches and that passion started to fall on deaf ears. He needed a fresh start.

Kinda sounds like Reid.

those Marty/Norv Chargers of the mid 2000s

how did they not win something?

Marty/Rivers

Similar in one way.

I really wonder what would've happened if Marty had stayed on. But my opinion of Norv is not that high, at least as a HC. Marty built them up to a 14-2 team and then let Norv run it into the ground. And he never coached again. Pretty amazing really.

Grbac/Gannon?

ROFL ROFL ROFL

I really feel bad for the guy. I've always liked him and always thought he got shafted. I mean, how do you go 14-2 and get fired? SMH. He gets you to the playoffs almost every year and then anything can happen. So you fire him for a guy that that's never won anything. Such a shame.

Strongside 12-10-2013 10:01 PM

It's obvious what he's referring to with the 'biggest mistake ever' comment.

Hey man, seems silly since you put it that way. But it still bugs me. :banghead:

How do you build such solid clubs then have a career 5 and 15 playoff record.
