Whats Your Favorite Chromecast App...

and why?

I got my wife one for Christmas, and while she's familiar with Netflix, Hulu and Pandora, she's unfamiliar with other apps that might broaden her entertainment experience.

Lil help?

YouTube is pretty great.

Google Play Music / Movies works great.

HBO Go works Okay but seems to buffer quite a bit - could be my wifi setup

Plex if you have Plex Pass I recommend

I found out today that I can push pirated streams (first row etc) from chrome to my TV. So that's awesome! :D

Streaming a tab is great. I drag and drop downloaded movies into the browser more than anything. Almost as good as VLC... speaking of which, I can't wait until they have an app!

So this isn't an app, but I just realized I can cast my desktop. I don't know how I didn't figure this out sooner, but it is ****ing great. I love this cheap device. I can literally watch anything from the internet on my TV now.

If you haven't figured it out yet, click the cast box, then the drop down arrow to the right, then cast entire screen (experimental). When you go fullscreen there is an annoying chromecast popup that informs you that you are casting in fullscreen, but I got around this in VLC by setting VLC to always be on top.

I am about to use hola to watch Sherlock se3ep2 right now in fullscreen.

Oh yeah, when you do this you have to mute your computer speakers. Audio still plays on the TV though.

Plex seems pretty ****ing awesome. What does Plex Pass add?

I love mine as well. Truly this thing is going to take off. Google keeps it cheap cause they want developers creating new apps that use it.

The more ppl use talk about this the more and more services will embrace it.

Comcast is terrified btw. Google is truly the new apple. Look at their mobile platforms, their hardware. Everything they are doing is setting them up for later.

google is one of the people that will be bidding on the nfl sunday ticket next year.. think about that. If google (youtube) gets it foot in the door for tv subscription its game over for comcast and cable companies.

Who doesnt have broadband anymore? Google is counting on the internet and internet streaming devices for future sales.

I cant wait to see where we go in 10 years.

I have had a chromecast for a year. I suggest you tell everyone you know about it and tell them to get them while they are only 35

Plex actually is pretty ****ing awesome.

At the time I mentioned plex pass as that was the only way to use it with Chromecast AT THE TIME!

Since then that feature has been released to all.

Plex Pass gives you access to all their beta stuff (like the chomecast stuff at the time) and a few extra features for either a subscription or $79 lifetime buy. I'm not sure what exactly as I don't have it

Plex is pretty great. I was skeptical that the whole media server controlled by a table or phone as a remote being easy to set up and actually work. So far so good and seems to handle video with no quality loss. Really liked how it picks up your whole itunes library with no effort video. Basically makes using my PS3 as a media server obsolete.

It's so much easier to watch files from my computer with Plex and for some reason Plex has the ability to stream full episodes from Network shows.

So wondering why this couldn't go in the Chromecast thread...
