What would you do?

Many, if not all, NFL scouts and execs are agreeing that this is the best draft class in a long long time. With the amount of early entries in this draft class, it isn't a stretch to make the assumption that next year won't be nearly as good and therefore, in my opinion, the 2014 draft picks would be worth more than 2015. This draft is full of prospects who have a lot of potential but should have stayed in school for another year in order to improve; it also has a lot of pro-ready prospects as well. It is very deep at vitually every position, the only one that may be lacking is the S position but even that is a pretty decent class.

What would you do in this draft with these things in mind? Do you try to trade back in order to accumulate a few more picks in the top 100? Do you trade future picks in order to move up back into the 2nd round or further up in the first? Or do you sit still and hope that some talent slips to your later picks?

With the current state of our roster, I would have no problem trading future picks in order to gain more early round picks in this draft or to move up for a top 15 guy. How about you?

At this point, the Chiefs need more picks.

It's probable that the Chiefs land 4-5 comp picks next year. If that's the case, we could easily part with one or two picks in 2015 to land additional 2014 picks.

Hard to say what trade I'd be down for, though. I'd have to know what the pieces in play are, and who's on the board.

If it's as deep as they say and you will be able to get a top 10/15 type talent at the #23 pick, I think that's more valuable than a couple mid-rounders.

Passing on a Beckham, Hageman, Ford or Amaro type player would be foolish.

Would you trade a 2015 1st round pick for a high 2nd rounder this year?

Hhhhhheeeeeeelllllllllllllllll no.

Not unless I was convinced I was getting an All Pro talent for 10 years at an important position.

Basically, I'd trade off next year's 1st for Manzirk, and that's it.

It depends how high that 2nd round pick is and who's still on the board.

I can't imagine ever doing that.

Even if you knew that next year's draft class won't have a player available late in the 1st who would be better than what you can get in the 2nd round of this draft class?

You can only speculate and make educated guesses about the depth of fuure drafts.

I despise the concept of trading future picks.

The Chiefs would have been better served to trade a 2nd and 3rd last year for Smith, rather than a 2nd last year and a 2nd this year.

That 2nd this year is a really valuable pick that is lost.

Absolutely, I would.

Let's say we take Beckham at 23. You wake up on Friday, and Cleveland is calling, saying that their second rounder is for sale. You're watching, and Amaro slips all the way to 35th overall.

You wouldn't give up that 2015 first rounder for Jace Amaro?

That's the point. It's really valuable this year, and you have a chance to get it back. A lot of these guys going in the second round this year would be first rounders next year. I don't see it as losing value at all.

I'll probably get blasted here, but I say draft simply the BPA in the first. Marqise Lee, Dee Ford, etc.

Let Albert walk, and have Fisher/Stephenson as the starters and have Jeff Allen move back to his natural position as the backup tackle. Or even picking a tackle in the 3rd for the backup job. Or if you're feeling froggy, tag/trade Albert for Carolina's #92 or Arizona's #84.

Then take the Albert money to resign Schwartz and throw the rest at Red Bryant so we could have someone to help Poe with his constant doubles.

Because you're guaranteed getting an All Pro talent next year? I think that's totally silly. There's absolutely no guarantee of getting a first round talent next year in the first round. It could be a weak ass draft.

If you have a chance to get back into the second round and get a guy you think is a top 15 player that fell, why the hell wouldn't you?

trade down.

Although I am not comfortable trading future picks, I wouldnt be 100% opposed to it. Sometimes valuable opportunities present themselves that cant be overlooked by adhering to a strict rule.
