The 15 Beliefs of the Tea Party

I keep hearing people on both sides bash the Tea Party and I have to admit I have never actually looked into exactly what the stance of the Tea Party is, so this is what I found. Amazingly it seems that a lot of people on both sides tend to agree with most of these beliefs. It's obvious why status quo politicians are afraid of the Tea Party but I have to question why we hear some on the voter end bashing them. I have listed the beliefs below and put a D, R or B (both) for where I think beliefs fall from an "isle" aspect:

1. Illegal aliens are here illegally. R
2. Pro-domestic employment is indispensable. D
3. A strong military is essential. R
4. Special interests must be eliminated. B
5. Gun ownership is sacred. R
6. Government must be downsized. B
7. The national budget must be balanced. B
8. Deficit spending must end. B
9. Bailout and stimulus plans are illegal. D
10. Reducing personal income taxes is a must. B
11. Reducing business income taxes is mandatory. R
12. Political offices must be available to average citizens. B
13. Intrusive government must be stopped. B
14. English as our core language is required. R
15. Traditional family values are encouraged. R

While it's obvious the party leans right, I am amazed at how many issues you hear both sides champion yet for some reason they bash on the Tea Party.

I think there are a lot of people on both sides that identify with the Tea Party whether they realize it or not.

You forgot:

16. Entanglement between Church and State is not only OK but should be encouraged.

I think the entire "Church and State" argument has been so misrepresented and distorted it's not even worthy of debate anymore. Freedom of religion has turned into "freedom from religion" and most people have no clue of how the law regarding Church and State is supposed to be implemented.

I think the denial of "freedom from religion" is one of the root causes of discord in our country and that it's incredibly ignorant to pretend that it isn't absolutely necessary.

No one is forcing you partake in any religion. The fact people don't understand the true meaning in regards to church and state is the ignorance that need be addressed.

You misunderstand the Constitution of the United States of America.

TP beliefs are value based and common sense. Scare hell out of anti religion nuts and loons from the left. The TP appeal reached deep into moderate dems. Not good for the crazy left .

Maybe it's not the message, maybe it's the delivery.

Could be. I can't say I have watched enough of their "deliveries" to comment. Though the ones I have seen weren't bad at all.

When these things get carried to an extreme, then things get silly. Questioning spending is a great thing. Rubber stamping goes too far.

I remember a year or two ago, we had people praising cuts to census statistics. I am constantly getting into debates about people who complain about stadiums and sweetheart deals to development projects. It's why I take a moderate stance. Because spending cuts are a great thing in moderation.

Not so sure it scares the loons on the Left so much as the mainstream politicians on both sides who bow to corporate and union interests above all.
