Amazing Spider-Man 2: The Game

Looks like the best webslinging mechanics ever, even better than the much heralded Spider-Man 2 system on the PS2/XBOX consoles.

Using both left and right triggers to fire weblines from their respective hands is much more immersive, and with the return of the speed boost, slingshot, and horizontal wall running, it should be the most fluid iteration of Spidey's unique mode of travel.

When you find yourself out of reach of any attachment points (webs stick to buildings again, not just the sky) you still have the web rush mechanic to ensure your safe landing, or get you back into swinging range.

Crap-TON of skins. This didn't include the 4 pre-order skins, so the skins here plus pre-order, plus the obligatory Beenox Original suit they are bound to make, that should be 15 skins for Spidey, all of which will change gameplay in some way in the boosting of stats and abilities.

For example, if you wear the Spiderman: Noir suit, you will be able to do stealth takedowns from much further away, and be harder to detect by enemies. Pretty cool touch there, as in most games now skins don't change gameplay at all.

The more you use a suit, it will "level up" and get better as time goes on.

Infinite crimes, so that the game doesn't end when the story does like the first game.

Refined combat so there's more emphasis on combos and planned attacks, rather than "Mash X to win".

Looks like it builds on the groundwork the first game laid in just about every way.

Looks pretty good. A few things:

-Web slinging looks to be a strength yet again, as it should for any Spider-Man game. I know everyone loved Spider-Man 2, but one that was highly underrated to me was Ultimate Spider-man on PS2. Spider-Man 2 was more realistic but I had more fun with the web slinging in Ultimate Spider-Man.

-Looks like they ripped a page out of Rocksteady's handbook with the spider sense aka detective mode in the Arkham games.

-I think I say this in every Spider-Man thread on the board, but damn he's a ****ing beast. The webs, the strength, his agility, etc. Makes for a lot of fun when playing video games.

Developer Interview, sheds a little more light on gameplay elements.

Hate the guy's vocal "ticks" though. Ehhhh, Ahh, Uhhhh..... Jesus Christ. Formulate your thought, then speak. Not hard.

looks alright i guess...same as the first one. i'm sure ill be pickin this up cause i love spidey games but idunno.

spiderman 1 for the ps2, spiderman 2 and 3 for the 360/ps3 were amazing and spiderman web of shadows was a really dark title, one of my favorites.

they need to stop making the camera so close to spidey, this isn't the arkham trilogy! put the camera more away from spidey like in spiderman 2. it makes the city seem a lot bigger and just feels better. sort of what marvel lego superheroes did.

I never really liked the "mini-Spidey" from Spider-Man 2. That was actually one of the few gripes I had with the game was that he seemed so freaking small.

Despite that, and the complete lack of alternate costumes, and that F***ING annoying balloon kid, that game is up there on the list of my favorite Spidey games. First game to do the swinging correctly.

But as you can see here, Spidey was tough to see sometimes at high speed swinging, the camera was so far away.

If I could combine Web of Shadows' combat system with the new swing system of the new game it looks like that one would be perfect.

I'd appreciate a closer camera, just not to the extent of amazing spiderman 1. Watching that vid brings back memories but after looking back, I think I might of liked ultimate spiderman just a tad more.

spiderman 1 for ps1 is sucha classic with all the diff costumes and villians, they need to go back to that formula and still make it an open world New York. I'm still going to pick up this game the week it comes out but there's just something that's not right..i should be more pumped for a next gen spidey and i just feel like this movie formula will never work.

they just need to make it realistic and detailed like the arkham trilogy or just go full out cartoon like the ultimate spiderman/spiderman1&2 for ps2 to a certain extent.

i also appreciated spiderman 2 enter electro but i think there were different developers behind it because it didn't really feel the same and i remember when i went to get it on launch day, it got pushed back. i still loved the style of it and various villians.

USM had better fluidity in the movement, adding the horizontal wall runs, and mid air double jumps to keep your momentum.

Sadly, they slowed the speed of the swinging down so much from SM 2 that it really wasn't that thrilling to websling like it was in SM 2. And that one button combat system was just pure ass. Pinball Spidey was not fun at all.

Plus, making Venom just a bad Hulk Jump ripoff for his main mode of travel was crap. He should've been able to websling like 616 Venom.

So the X Box One release has been delayed for this game. Slightly annoyed because I told my kid, we'd pick it up on release day.
