Flight question

I needed to make an emergency trip with uncertain return date. Rather than buying two one-way tickets, I bought a round trip ticket with my best guess at a return trip. My return flight is Thursday but I'm not ready to go back then and I'm still don't know my exact return date. How do I cancel my return flight while still holding the ticket open? I know I will pay a change fee. Do I need to call Delta or is there a way to do it online?

Delta, you probably have to call.

Southwest I know you can do it online.

Did you buy it from a third party like Orbitz or Delta directly? If directly from Delta it sounds like they will work with you. If thru a third party you might have an issue. In either case I'd probably do it calling Delta directly.

Delta ticket change rules.......

Call the airline and explain. Most of time they will work with you.

Sometimes they will even waive additional charges if it is a true emergency.

Don't say Bomb.

This is why I always try to fly Southwest.

This is why Southwest is so much better than everyone else. Need to change your flight? Go ahead, no problem. It costs them pretty much nothing to do this yet the other airlines charge $100+ to do it. ****ing thieves.

I bought it directly from Delta. Southwest doesn't serve my city.

I'll call Delta tomorrow. Thanks guys .

i thought this was a "fight" thread.......in which my advice would be 'be nice, until it's time to not be nice"
then you go like hell

I wonder if you have to exchange it for a "full fare" ticket or whatever they call it. Fully refundable?

if you have a good medallion membership with delta, then you don't pay any fees, I believe.

Holy crap! I didn't know that.

I think my brand loyalty is going to end the moment i cash in all of my miles. Although in many places I work AA is the only U.S. carrier.

How does American even stay in business? That's crap.
