SceneItAll Tournament: Round 2, Heat 47

You know the rules. Vote for your FAVORITE scene from these three:

While it's an amazing ending, the part after about 3:14 is a separate scene and should be excluded from consideration.

Really tough two-way battle here. My votes:

#1 - Ferris Bueller's Day Off. That little girl totally cracks me up. And Rooney's facial expressions and the music are both great. This right here is comedy genius.

#2 - The Great Escape. It kills me to not vote for this scene. It's a great vignette of the indomitable American spirit. And it's got great music to boot. Top-notch scene.

#3 - The Lion King. Way too sad to be a favorite scene. Way, way too sad.

Predarat 06-16-2014 06:35 PM

Gotta go with Ferris, that damn Rooney probably thought his day could not possibly get any worse, and then it did. Too hillarious.

Rain Man 06-16-2014 06:58 PM

Oh, no no no no no. Don't vote in the scene where a kitty cat gets killed. It's sad. Those other two scenes are both great. Vote for one of them.

Rasputin 06-16-2014 07:12 PM

Scar in Lion King was cool.

Rain Man 06-17-2014 06:28 PM

Okay, we need more votes for Ferris. Ferris has to move on.

This is what Esquire Magazine had to say about this scene:

http://www.esquire.com/blogs/culture...ellers-day-off

If you're one of those people who walks out as the credits start rolling, you missed the purest gold of the whole film. Jeffrey Jones's performance as the bloodied and bedraggled Principal Rooney in this scene is a work of Chaplin-esque brilliance, and few lines in film are as immortal as "Gummy bear? It's been in my pocket, they're real warm and soft." That it's all set to Yello's absurd, inexplicable hit "Oh Yeah" is just icing on the cake.

You Bastards! You DON'T vote against Steve McQueen. You just DON'T!

What's next? Voting down Chuck Norris?

A cartoon beating Steve McQueen. F*** ass!

The gummy bear line, people! The gummy bear line! It's one of the best movie lines ever uttered!

McQueen would slap you silly.

I forget if it was for Bullit or what, but they were over budget and failing to pay their bills. Some guys showed up to repossess the cameras for payments in arears. McQueen drew circles around the cameras and told the guys who wanted the cameras, if they stepped insipde the circle, he would knock their block off.

Against that you give me gummy bears. Yeah, it is brilliant I must admit, but doesn't outshine Hilt the Cooler King!

Rain Man 06-17-2014 07:46 PM

Oh, I'm a big fan of the Cooler King scene. Big fan. In fact, I nominated it. I'd be fine with either of those advancing. The Lion King scene breaks my heart, so it's not at all my favorite. The lion died, people! He died!

Rain Man 06-20-2014 11:16 AM

Oh, for crying out loud. Lion King moves on. Jeez, people.

This heat needs to be butt****ed in the butt.

Kaepernick 06-20-2014 02:44 PM

Gay Lion King? Not that there is anything wrong with that.

This is why your polls should be public. I want to know who the Lion King fanboys are.
