Another Shot at Cheap Charcoal

Back in April, Lowe's had Kingsford on sale for stupid cheap. Right now Home Depot has the 2-pack (20 lbs of charcoal per bag, 40lbs per bundle) for $10. That's about half price. So if you're going to grill or smoke over the 4th of July, good time to buy. Here's a link:

That's no "cheap" deal.

That 17 pounds for $13. The deal in the OP is 40 pounds for $10.

But it is lump so I would buy it over the Kingsford crap.

Maybe, and that's fine. But that's not an especially good price.

For smoking we just use the Kingsford to get the fire started, then switch over to hickory or apple or whatever.

For simple grilling burgers or dogs or brats, Kingsford is just fine. Start it up with a charcoal chimney, and you don't have any of that lighter fluid taste.

I use DIablo mesquite
but then again I am cooking on a propan grill that I just throw the charcoal on,
I lent my decent grill to my ex and she gave it to some friends of hers
and I like them and their kids call me grandpa so
I can't bring my self to take it back
GAWD I MISS THAT GRILL
