Are we still risking wearing down starters on D?

It was our key complaint of why the defense wore down as the year went on, was it not?

Well we played 50 defensive snaps against the Pats.

Houston played 100% of them.
Mauga played 100% of them.
Bailey played 45 (90%).
Poe played 43 (86%).
Hali played 41 (82%).

In a shocker, we are hardly even bothering with Vickerson, Walker, and Ford -- all three players have proven to be very capable contributors. Yet we gave each of them 6 or fewer snaps against the Pats.

Discus.

since when has our marquee FA signing Vance Walker proven anything other than wasting cap space for the free 12 million Dorsey has given him?

He hasn't been given squat opportunities to prove it on the field.

In week 1, he was given 1 snap, and sacked the QB. I think it was Week 1...

Especially for a game like the NE one, yes. Way too many snaps for some key D-starters. I guess fear of a massive comeback existed? but damn... This game was 27-0 with 5:29 remaining of the 3rd quarter. Got to get some backups out there for mop-up snaps.

Maybe Reid was going to, but got nervous that NE scored a TD quickly just after the aforementioned?

I'm sure for the rest of his coaching tenure Andy Reid will ALWAYS think about the playoff lead we blew, when we have leads.

As I watch through yet again, the score is 34-7 with 11:52 left in the game.

Considering the lack of NE weapons and OL pass pro... enough of a lead yet?

the fact that he was signed and can't break into the starting lineup should say enough.

How long was the D even on the field? 20 minutes?

I lived through 2014. There will never be enough of a lead. Ever.

I wouldn't even begin to worry about snap counts right now, as this will end up being highly fluctutating depending on game flow and play calling based on the game plan.

There are going to be games this year, where Hali, Houston, and Ford are going to play, together, for at least 25% of the snaps. There's going to be games where Poe, Houston, and Hali play 100% of the snaps. There's going to be games where we play 75% with 6 dbs.

What I do know, is through 4 games, this 2-2 team has shown huge improvement on defense after losing so many from the starting front 7.

last year makes it a possible problem

we didn't rotate DLine last year so common sense dictates that people get concerned when seeing a similar issue this year.

Is mauga wearing the head piece on D? I thought he came out in passing situations

We'll need Vickerson against the Niners run game this weekend.
