I have no problem with Dorsett. How do you rate him versus a guy like Agholor?

And DGB to the 49ers? Interesting, especially considering they just gave up on Crabtree...

I have him rated higher than Agholor. Not really comparable receivers. I like Agholor. I think he can fix a couple things and have a better ceiling than advertised. Here's my draft notes on Agholor:

Good straight-line speed, good agility.
Good open field running ability, picks up alot of YAC.
Works well back to his quarterback
Very average run blocker.
Good sink and stop on hitch, good cut and go on slant
Good hands catcher but baskets some throws.
No unnecessary "high pointing" - stride receiver.
Secures ball to outside arm properly.

Bad drop step off the line that slows him down from a football perspective. Physical press dbs will take advantage.
Not as fast on tape as he is on the track on 9s, doesn't generate deep separation.
Concentration drops against Stanford
Ramps down on in/out cuts rather than fluid transition

runs alot of quick hitches and short swing and screen routes
alot of motion and slot looks
didn't see any press coverage in any of the 5 games I watched
good qb throwing to him
ran pro-style, wco

good punt and kick returner

I see him in a very similar light, but came to the conclusion that he is still likely a slot only receiver. Against Stanford, the only game I watched where corners got anywhere close to press on him, the back him off the LOS, put him in motion and set him up in bunch formations to create space for him to operate in. Based on that, I am concluding that against NFL competition, he will have difficulty beating press coverage. Additionally, his ability to get separation over the top, even against college DBs is a strike against him. Based on these observations, I have him pegged in the slot.

DGB won't go before #40 and you're crazy if you think that DGB is more accomplished than Agholor, who isn't even in your first round.

I'd be pissed if we go dorsett (who I genuinely like as a player) over peters, who could be a legitimate shutdown corner

saphojunkie 04-29-2015 08:12 PM

Yeah, man... I'm with Dane. DGB is gonna fall to the mid-late 2nd round and Agholor will be the 4th or 5th WR off the board along with Perriman.

I don't even like DGB as a prospect at all if you've been paying attention man. I wouldn't even draft him. This is a projection. I have a feeling some idiot team is going to take a flier on DGB in round 1, I'm just hoping it isn't KC.

What?! I mean... what?!?!!

Don't want to touch him because of off-the-field stuff, sure... but there are very few in the universe who can do what he did against Kentucky.

Absolute shitty route runner, might be the worst in this class. NFL corners are going to be in his shit all day long until he learns to run them correctly.

When he realizes a 5'10" NFL CB with a 40" vertical can get up as high as he can at 6'5" with a 33" vertical, and he no longer has that height advantage, he's going to have to learn routes.

When he realizes that most corners in the NFL run sub 4.5 in the 40 and sub 7 in the 3-cone, he's going to have to learn routes.

See, that size thing he had going on in college isn't going to carry him in the pros, he has to be more than that.
