Kiper & Gruden Discuss The Draft
Just watched a very entertaining hour long discussion between Gruden and Kiper regarding this year's draft. Hope some of you were able to see it as they really broke down many players. A few of interesting takes:
Gruden was not particularly high on Gregory nor Beasley at LB as he felt they really shied from the run. He did however really like Ray as he felt he was a much more complete player. At CB, Gruden liked Peters though he was concerned about his "baggage". Said he'd maybe take him in Round 1 if he had a strong locker room to help direct the kid. One of the more complete corners he REALLY liked was DJ Smith from Florida Atlantic; a bit small (but compact) and the kid had excellent cover skills and was a very good tackler. Both Gruden and Kiper liked the 3 primary WRs; Gruden felt both Perriman and Coates were kind of similar and needed to work on their route running; got the impression that he liked Perriman better than Coates. Gruden not high on DGB; didn't think he was very productive and ran sloppy routes....at best. Kiper higher on him as per his measurables. Liked Denzel Perryman a LOT. Guy is a ferocious tackler. Also noted Trey Flowers (DE from Arkansas) as a bit of a sleeper who he said reminded him of Woodley; thinks he's gonna be a very good pro. Wish I could remember more as it was a most interesting discussion. Maybe it'll be replayed on ESPN later tonight. If so, might be worth a late night viewing. |
