Who's your favorite historical figure?

In all of world history. Who's your favorite historical figure?

Famous or infamous doesn't matter.

For me, it would have to be the prophet Joseph Smith.

Lots of good potential answers though. What's yours?

1. Nikola Tesla. 2. Leonardo DaVinci

If we are talking fiction, as well, I'd throw in a few Biblical characters.

Bob Dole. Not the political Bob Dole, but the CP Bob Dole.

Ghengis Khan.

The fact a good portion of Asia traces their ancestry back to him is pretty damned interesting on top of his conquests.

Sherman.
Either the general or the boy with the talking time traveling dog... I like both.

OH wait. I'll go with Walter Tirel. Killed William Rufus the king of England and was my ancestor.

Also a big fan of Rasputin.

Mark Twain, probably. He was a pretty bold writer for his time, traveled the world back when it wasn't easy to do so, and he's still readable and entertaining today.

Mark Twain, IMO, gets wasted being stressed to middle / high school readers because much of what makes him a genius is in his themes, nuance and the context of his times... And the fact that his thick writing style is just a little hard to get through if you aren't 100% focused to reading it.

The great thinkers that busted the wall. Archimedes, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Pythagoras, Carl Peterson.

DMAC 08-10-2015 02:00 PM

Tesla fo sho.

And John Muir.

RollChiefsRoll 08-10-2015 02:02 PM

Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt. Cause 'Merica.

And FDR I guess, since he told a bunch of scumbag empires to go **** themselves from a wheelchair.

One of the most colorful characters I ever read about was Ben Lilly.

Jon Bon Jovi

Cheater5 08-10-2015 02:05 PM

Frederick Townsend Ward.

Ben Franklin was cool.
