Evan Mathis?

I read that he's in talks with Miami...for $2 million a season. Can't they cut Fanaika without suffering much financial damage? He's practicing with the 3rd stringers..

If the guy is going to play for around 3 million a season...he's definitely worth it...not for the 6-8 million he was after though.

If he would take a 1 year/3m contract, I'd bring him in quickly.

Even a 2 year deal with only the first year guaranteed would be ok....2/5 3guaranteed

Hog's Gone Fishin 08-17-2015 08:58 PM

I've been wanting him in for ever !

I would imagine he's looking for a 3 year deal...didnt KC give Fanaika $8 million but not guaranteed? I'm trying to remember how his contract was structured. If they can get out of it..just flip that $$ to Mathis.

Does he play tackle?

No? How about center?

No?

**** him, then.

Bwana 08-17-2015 09:03 PM

I would love to get the guy in Red.

DaneMcCloud 08-17-2015 09:03 PM

No. Completely unnecessary.

Being able to get one of the highest rated O-lineman on the cheap? What's not to like? He's played for Reid before...seems like the entire right side is unsettled.

He's 34 years old and missed 9 games last year. He's unsigned after August 15th which show you his value. Plus, Chiefs have plenty of young right guards on their roster. or are you yet another guy commenting that didn't watch Saturday's game?

It would be a waste of money and a waste of time, especially when there are guys currently on the roster ready to start.

More than Fanaika? I'm not sure how keen he would be on switching to RG though..

I'm sure Dorsey is going to do some dumpster diving in a few weeks..

If Reid isn't in on him right now, then that says something about what they think of Mathis and how they view this oline. I was very encouraged by their outing Saturday night. I know it's just one preseason game.

KChiefs1 08-17-2015 09:30 PM

Don't we need a RT more?

Unless there's injury, Fanaika's not making the roster. He's third string and was terrible Saturday night.

Fanaika's going to get cut, anyway. If we add Mathis, we'd end up dumping Kush (we currently don't have anybody else on the roster with experience playing C except for Kush and Morse), or Fulton or LDT. **** that.

Before Saturday, I would have been on this bandwagon to sign Mathis.

But Fulton showed, while limited, he is solid and can get the job done.

Then we have Laurent Daverny-Tardiff, who played both LG and RG, and was nothing short of impressive.

He's starting at RG Friday, and if he plays nearly as impressive as he did on Saturday, he will lock down that spot, and Fulton will be a capable backup.
