"Kong: Skull Island" stars is in negotiations to join Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Corey Hawkins, Samuel L. Jackson John C. Reilly and Toby Kebbell.

...

According to Deadline, talks are underway between Legendary Pictures' Thomas Tull and Warner Bros. Pictures along with Universal Pictures to move "Kong: Skull Island" to Warner Bros. Pictures.

The idea is to combine these classic monsters King Kong and Godzilla into one monster cinematic universe.
Possibly awesome?!

Pacific Rim was Legendary/Warner wasn't it? Movie had problems, but I still enjoyed it quite a bit. Would be fun to throw the Jaegers into this universe.

Yes Legendary has its hand in down near everything these days.

Godzilla, Kong, Jurassic Park just to name a few

Legendary is a production company, not a studio.

This proposal is more akin to Paramount and Sony's production of Titanic, in which they shared production and marketing budget, with the publishing going to Paramount (which eventually went to Sony in a 2007 sale).

So it's really Universal (Kong) and Warner Bros. (Godzilla), with Legendary trying to broker a deal to merge IP from both and be the bag man?

According to the article it sounds like they are trying to create a universe for doing multiple pictures. Pacific Rim was Warner Bros. so I'm holding out hope for a Jaeger vs. Mechagodzilla!

The new Godzilla was ****ing titanic.

They'd need to make Kong a lot ****ing bigger to stand any chance against him.

unlurking 09-12-2015 10:21 PM

Good point. Maybe they'd be better shrinking Godzilla back down a bit.

ThaVirus 09-12-2015 10:42 PM

It'd be tough to scale Kong up to size and have him on some secluded island. I mean, that island would have to be the size of Australia and I'm not buying that.

Then again, he is a primate with some intelligence. He could be a decent bit smaller and still put up a fight.. Although Godzilla also has opposable thumbs and appeared to have some form of higher intelligence as well..

hybrid t-rex owns both.

Team them up. Let Kong ride around on Godzilla like Rocket and Groot.

OK. Maybe not.

Godzilla would put a stomp on King Kong & that be that.

Godzilla's leg would be bigger than King Kong

Rasputin 09-13-2015 12:26 AM

They need make Godzilla vs King Ghidorah and bring in Rodan and Mothra into the battle EPIC! That would be a Battle Royal I'd like to see.
