Near the beginning of the 2015 baseball season I started texting “Bill” (who also refers to me as Bill since the 8th grade for no reason at all), one of my best friends the highlights of the Royals games as they happened. I would text Bill when he wasn’t able to watch or listen as he is out of market (as am I). Once I started doing the texts I couldn’t stop. We were having such a great year from the very beginning and I loved having the texts to look back as a quick highlight. As the season went I just kept sending the texts. On occasion if I wasn’t able to watch or listen, Bill would send the updates to me. I decided that early on if we made it to the playoffs, I would post the texts on line. It was amazing how nearly every away game, the chanting of “Let’s go Royals!!!” rang out above the home crowds. Best fan support in the Majors.
I spent an unbelievable amount of hours collecting screen shots from my phone and downloading them to my computer and then combining them for easy viewing. If I wasn’t obsessive before, I surely am now. Reading through these texts caused almost the same excitement, disappointment, frustration, and elation as if I watching or listening to them again.
The performance that the 2015 Royals put on for their fans, city, and the world was unforgettable. This is my contribution as a super fan that was unable to witness any of the miracles pulled off by KC this year in person. This is my contribution to the Royals, the KC fan base, and my birth city, Kansas City. I was there for every step of the way.
