Loose change on the ground. Do you pick it up?

On my walk home from work yesterday, I found 87 cents on the ground. I'm not sure why there was 87 cents on the ground, but it was three quarters and twelve pennies all lying together. I'm not going to pass up 87 cents.

However, I wasn't born yesterday. Before I picked it up, I looked around to be sure it wasn't a trap. There were no snares, no people hiding in the bushes, and the coins didn't look like they'd been superheated. So I scooped them up.

There's a little bit of context for picking up coinage on the ground. If I'm in a busy pedestrian area, I generally won't stop for anything under a quarter. But if I'm walking by myself and see a penny, heck yeah. You invest that penny in google, and you probably end up with a quarter by the time you retire.

What's the smallest amount of money that's worth stopping and bending down for? For poll purposes, you can assume that you're walking by yourself in a non-crowded area where you don't know anyone.

I'll pick up a quarter or bills...nothing smaller than that, though.

So does my wife, without fail. I'll pick it up, even a penny, as long as it is not laying in muck.

I'm the guy who drops change and doesn't pick it up. Dime slipped out of my hands? Oh well, someone will pick it up and have an extra 10 cents.

My Grandpa picked up as little as a penny till the day he died. I still pick up every penny I find, not so much for monitary gain as it honors my hero. R.I.P

I like to glue quarters to the ground in case Sasquatch happens along.

Absolutely. I pick up everything unless there is some other reason why I shouldn't.

few weeks back the wife ran a marathon. after her finish, she wound up in the medic tent for cramps(never saw her that bad). anyway, she finally gets out of the tent and i try to help her walk back to where i parked the car. had to stop 3 times cause she got down so bad...feet, legs, even her hands(fingers sticking out in different directions and shit). i mean, if she was a horse i would have had to shoot her.

so finally, we get to the car and i help her in the seat and she sees a ****in penny on the ground:rolleyes:. made me pick the nasty thing up.

if it's a quarter or more, i'll pick it up. but, if it's less i'll only do it if she tells me to.
sec

Yes then put it in the change jar at the end of the day. When the change jar gets full, I cash it and put it toward the emergency fund. It does add up and you need it for when bad shit happens.
