it's not a terrible deal, but if you're patient you can probably get a new Air for $100 more

What's the difference in terms of capability and performance? Sorry I'm pretty ignorant on this stuff.

iPad2 is pretty aged at this point. It can run the latest OS, but not real well. You'd be much better off finding a newer model if you could.

Yeah, I wouldn't go for an iPad 2 at this point. Reburbished iPad 4's can be found on Amazon and eBay for $250 or so.

We bought a refurbished iPad 2 or 3 (I can't really remember) three years ago for our girls for about $300 directly from Apple, so I doubt that's a very good deal.

Thanks for the input guys...very helpful. I think I'll pass on the deal, save a bit more and get a newer model.
