I was going to but it is going on at the same time as my Mount Everest climb and I didn't want to anger the Sherpa. :)

I thought about it, but the foot traffic is horrible at this time of year.

Good luck to the wife. And to you, if you're trying to set a new pub record.

I think you drew the winning hand on the deal. :D

Ran this back in 1996 (geez 20 years ago?) and can honestly say it was perhaps the highlight of all my running experiences. If you have any chance to get to an earlier spot on the course, consider Wellseley College at the midpoint, the fire station right before runners ascend heartbreak hill, or from the top of heartbreak Hill on the way to Boston College. These last two are the spots a runner needs to see a friendly face. The College is mostly for you. All the coeds come out and scream for the runners. More importantly it is roughly 1500 coeds.... :D

I always have it on in my classroom and we do some conversion problems based on the pace of the runners. Students never fail to be amazed my lard ass made it 26.2 miles in under 3 hours, let alone the crazy pace the top men and women set running to downtown Boston...

Have a few friends running tomorrow. I don't have a chance in hell, but the wife will one day BQ and I'll travel to support her.

Its on my bucket list.

I need to qualify though...and I have a ways to go.

I ran the Marine Corps Marathon back in 2009...I did okay for my first [and only marathon]

I am currently in the middle of the heartland 39.3. Ran rock that parkway last weekend and the garmin this weekend [both half marathons].

After back-to-back halves...I feel I am a long way from doing a marathon again, let alone trying to qualify for it.

Some day...

I've heard taking the subway helps.

You once ran a sub 3:00 marathon? You deserve all the credit you get.

Marcellus 04-17-2016 05:29 PM

Planning to BQ this year and run it next year. Who knows though.

It's sometimes takes me 3 hours to get the motivation to get up and take a shower.

No shit...I am a very average looking guy. You could even perhaps consider me an "athletic build". However, it always amazes me my the various shapes and sizes of people who end up passing me in the distance runs. Some people are really just born to run...

Kudos to the sub-3. With all the dieting, training, and technique in the world, I would still never sniff a sub-3.
