While I'm sure you're right, I'm not entirely sure why this is even newsworthy. LA AVERAGES around 2 murders per day. I mean, it's sad and all, but I'm not sure why I should get worked up about it.

Gun free zones and kids(younger adults) will drive the news worthiness of this story.

I think it's usually newsworthy when there's a shooting involved on any type of school campus, which are supposed to be safe places for children, teenagers and young adults.

FWIW, it was a murder-suicide involving two males.

Doesn't California have strict gun laws? Sad deal.

I suppose, but it looks like there are an average of maybe 3-4 shootings on college campuses per month across the U.S.

I personally just get tired of how much we, as Americans, freak out about incidents that are really just a blip on the radar. But whatever - I know I'm the weird one.

In all seriousness, it is a horrible thing that happened. I just do not like silly signs and posts about gun free zones, because it means absolutely nothing to someone who doesn't care about that at all. It's not like a force field pops up if you are armed and try to enter the zone, FFS.

The only solution, it appears, is to ban college campuses. Or is that campi?
