I consider this a win, really.

This means they think he could be back right after 6 weeks. If not they would have put him on the short term IR, which is only 2 weeks longer than the PUP.

I think this means he's back in 6 weeks if all goes right.

That was my thought also. They changed the IR rules this year and you don't have to designate someone to be able to return from IR at the time they are put on the list. After 8 weeks you can then designate the return player. I take Houston being put on PUP as a very positive sign.

9 month mark is around midseason. I think he'll be taken off the PUP list week 6 and practice a couple weeks then be ready to go.
