Unreal Estate Game: Wisconsin
Assume that you idly buy a state lottery ticket while getting a doughnut at 7/11, and voila! You're a winner! You win your choice of one the five houses that will be shown.
I'll give you five houses in a state, and you vote on the house you would take. Background rules: Assume that your job situation won't need to change - you can find an identical job or work from home or whatever, so jobs don't matter. Consider the house itself and the location and anything else that's important to you (schools, restaurants, lot size, etc.). Feel free to do a google map search to check out the neighborhood and the area. You cannot sell the home. You can live in it as long as you like, but when you move out, it reverts back to the state as a prize for a future winner. All houses will generally be in the $900,000 to $1 million price range. All maintenance and utilities and taxes are cost-neutral compared to your current home. If you wouldn't move into any of these homes, you can instead accept a cash prize of $50,000 (tax free). Today's state is Wisconsin. No ****ing Green Bay? Rigged.

Either La Crosse or Madison.
La Crosse is cool because it looks like a castle....but guaranteed that house is haunted. |

Do you randomly pick cities or is there a method to your madness?
|
Mad Town for me. That is a fantastic town and the house has character. The LaCrosse casa is pretty sweet though. The other's are meh.

This is a tough one for me. Wisconsin has much better choices than I was expecting.
#1 - La Crosse - Who am I kidding? I've always wanted a turret. The location isn't very good (although the street itself is amazing), and the town doesn't seem to have that much to offer, but who am I kidding? That place is a freaking castle, and I want a castle. #2 - Fox Point - Great location on Lake Michigan and great house. It's walking distance from a Panda Express, too. This is an awesome house and almost knocked off #1. #3 - Madison - The location on the lake is nice and the house is cool, although somewhat small for this price range. I'm not against this house at all. #4 - Milwaukee - I'd like being in a city and it's got a great location near the university, but its location on the street doesn't befit its status. The house itself is nice, but not a blockbuster. #5 - Sheboygan/Plymouth - I loved the house and the setting seems nice, but once I zoomed out and looked at the location, I marked it down considerably. You're driving everywhere if you live here, and it's not in a location with notable urban or rural features. |

Sheboygan.

I'm not sure I responded to the last one, but I looked at them all and picked in my mind. I think I had to run or something came up before I could post.
Anyways, these are fun and I'm a nerd just like you when it comes to just looking at random places and imagining what life is like there. Thanks for the fun, Rainman! |
The castle looks like the only one worth the money. I am surprised at the price of the others.
|
Wisconsin is often to be found as the drunkest state.
|
The castle intrigues me but it might be haunted.
