Interesting strategy in the 49ers-Saints game
This is kind of fascinating.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwT7WKQPJMA (embedding is disabled because NFL) Basically, the Saints had 8 seconds left on the clock prior to half - enough time to take one shot at the end zone, then kick the field goal. The 49ers corners all intentionally held the Saints receivers. 5 yard penalty, but it prevented any shot at all of the end zone, and 4 seconds ran off the clock. The Saints were forced to kick the field goal. |
Difference between losing by 19 rather than 23.

Game changer that's for sure.

Ha ha I like how 35 tackled 82 that's pretty blatant.
|
Very interesting. At first it seems nonsensical, but it's a good idea. Terrible for the sport, but a good idea for gaming the rules.
|
Fantastic idea. I love shit like this. You re up 4 with 6 seconds on the clock and they are going to do a hail mary? Hold them all :)
|
Very good idea. I hope we do this when needed.

The NFL will find a way to penalize this strategy if it becomes a common practice.
|
Hack-a-Shaq... sometimes the penalty is better than the other potential outcome, like a cornerback intentionally holding a receiver who has him beat for a sure touchdown
Pretty damn smart, really |
If only we'd done this against Indy years ago.
|
Clever.

Don't need anymore strategies to confuse Andy with.

They still get their chance to do a hail mary regardless. With 6 seconds left, all you've done is moved them 5 yards closer for their hail mary. |
