Kelces first call with Andy Reid
http://www.foxsports.com/nfl/story/c...cowherd-013117
I love stories like these. When you see how coaches really work behind the scenes. We see so much of the soft side of Andy Reid. This was a side that doesn't surprise me, but it still was not was I was expecting. |
Loved that. I thought about finding the "Andy Reid is a shitty coach" thread and posting it there, but then realized that I don't care.
Reid's a great coach and being able to get through to knuckleheads like Travis Kelce is a great example of it. Sure, he hasn't smoothed off every rough edge but there are very few coaches in the league that could've molded Kelce into the horse he's become, especially after his missed rookie season when he could've easily just gone off the rails. |
That's awesome.

I loved "put your brother on the phone" and then he proceeded to read big bro the riot act.
Reid's a pretty remarkable teacher and leader. The more you read about him (especially the longform style pieces) the more you see how great his interpersonal communication and management skills are. We're in great hands with that guy, I just wish he'd find himself a new QB. |
That was awesome. Reid has his flaws as a coach but I love the guy.

Great story...wonder what his first call with Smith was like??????

1) Plug QB lack of talent leak. 2.) Building team width and depth. 3.) Along the way, find next generation QB. |
But Andy Sucks at life and should be fired....

That guy knows his shit backwards and forwards. He's a great football coach. |
He excels at managing players and the locker room. Not surprised at this anecdote.
|
Really cool stuff.
|
My biggest beef with Reid has been his love for Alex Smith (maybe clock management too), but he handles players well and I liked that he was innovative with formations in the playoff game. I'd rather have him than another Jeff Fisher like retread.

Love the video! I'd not heard of this interaction before.
