Best draft picks by Round - Round 6

This one's going to shock you. Here are my top ten.

1. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, 2015. 27 starts over two seasons, with more contributions to come. As an immediate rookie starter, I would make an argument that he is already the best sixth-round pick in Chiefs history.

2. Zach Fulton, 2014. 34 starts over three seasons. He's recently been a backup thrust into a starting role, but his versatility has led to those opportunities.

3. Kerry Reardon, 1971. 26 starts over six seasons. May not live up to the Chiefs' reputation of stellar free safeties, but he's in the club of starters.

4. Noland Smith, 1967. 2.5 seasons with the Chiefs as a returner, with two return touchdowns. His star burned short but bright.

5. Tom Barndt, 1996. Four seasons with the Chiefs, two seasons as a starter. Made a few sacks over the course of 30 starts. Generally a contributor.

6. Derrick Ransom, 1998. 26 starts over five seasons. He stepped up to the starting role when needed, though the job was never formally his.

7. Jimmy Wilkerson, 2003. Six seasons with the Chiefs, made five starts during that period in a d-line rotation. Generally stood up against the run.

8. James Saxon, 1988. 6 starts over four seasons. Niche runner.

9. Robb Thomas, 1989. Perhaps overshadowed by the earlier pick of Derrick Thomas, he was with the team for three seasons, averaging over 30 catches per season.

10. Rakeem Nunez-Roches, 2015. 5 starts over two seasons, with more contributions to come. I suspect he'll move up the list over time.

Going with the Canadian Doc on this one. Probably the smartest of the group as well.

Wow, the 6th round has not been friendly to KC. Went with Robb Thomas. He'd make some great, acrobatic catches...and promptly drop a simple 5 yard out pass that hit him in the hands.

Also, my dad would shout "The white boy caught one!!" on every reception.

Yeah, that was a big surprise to me. Even setting aside the AFL guys, the Chiefs have found some gems in the 7th round and the undrafted ranks. The 6th has historically been a desert.

I first thought voting Robb Thomas but RM makes a good case for -Tardif. I vote for him that he still has upside and will be blocking for Patrick Mahomes II on game winning drives.

Robb Thomas was clutch

No brainer: LDT

I'm a little surprised that Dr. T is doing so well, just because he's still young in his career. When I first put the list together, I was pretty sure I'd vote for Wilkerson, because I remember liking his potential when he was playing. But statswise he wasn't nearly where I would have guessed.

Robb Thomas had a couple of seasons as a starter, so even though I wasn't a big fan of his, I could see him as a reasonable choice. But then when you consider that LDT already has a couple of starting seasons, they're even on that criterion and LDT seems to be still on the upswing.
