Hall of Fame selection question.
 

I'm perplexed.

NFL Network is proudly replaying the moment that the NFL HoF president told Kurt Warner that he was in the Hall of Fame. He walks down a hotel hallway, knocks on the door, and Kurt answers. A group of a dozen people in the hotel room start cheering and clapping, and the president tells Kurt that he's in.

This is apparently not unusual, because I've seen similar videos in the past for other players. They're in a hotel and the president comes and knocks on the door and tells them that they're in.

So...wait a minute.

Are they putting up all of the finalists in the hotel? Do they go to some of them and knock on the door and say, "Nope, you're not in."? Because when they knocked on Kurt's door and he opened it, Kurt's wife (who is apparently an extra in that Mad Max movie) started cheering.

How did she know he was in? Maybe they were coming to say no. Or do you know you're in once you get invited to the hotel? I saw an interview a while back where some player was saying that he was supposed to hear at 3:30 and by 5:30 he was nervous because he hadn't.

Do they really fly you into Canton just so they can make you feel bad in a hotel room? I realize that wasn't a risk in Warner's case since he works for NFL Network and was therefore an automatic inductee, but what about the players who don't work for NFL Network?

I find this process to be very suspicious. I think we're being jobbed.

I was told I was a Publishers Clearing house winner via letter in the mail but they've never knocked on my door with a 10 million dollar check so I keep working until they do.
