most likely we are alone, or might as well be because the distances are so vast that it wouldnt really be practical unless some civilization reached 3rd tier status (harnessing the energy of a black hole).

If that was the case we probably wont hear from them unless they want us to and/or we would have heard from them by now...and they certainly wouldnt come here just to probe cows or abduct hillbillys

um, there's only one universe.... that's why it gets the "uni" prefix.

We are not alone in the universe. That doesn't mean that whoever/whatever lives wherever else has ever been here, or will ever be here. That's also part of the "infinitely big" equation.

Until I see a walking talking alien life form that says "Howdy, Earth!", I'm not convinced.
