On the Herd: A. Cromartie talks about SB, Mahomes
Former DB Antonio Cromartie on "The Herd," sits down with Colin and gives his opinion on the SB and Pat Mahomes.
Pretty interesting stuff. You can tell Antonio knows his game, and has tons of respect for the Chiefs and especially Mahomes. <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/rvDn1fNHe_4" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
That was really cool.

Physical = Badass running team Finese= Pussy passing team |
Cowherd makes a good point w/r/t the Packers.
The Packers have Kenny Clark, who's an EXCELLENT ballplayer. And Preston/Z. Smith are good players as well, but they're not super physical. To stop the zone running game, you need everyone to be strong at the point of attack. If you have 1 great player or even 2, you might as well have none if the other 2 guys aren't doing their job. Defeating that run scheme requires total team defense along the front. And w/ Clark, Suggs, Nnadi and Pennel, the Chiefs have the personnel to do that. They just have to play as well as their talent says they can. |
How the hell did Pennel end up on the street? Dude is strong and physical and just a rock up front.
Was it just a motivational issue or ? |

So many teams see the Patriots as some model organization, especially given what they've been able to accomplish with 'malcontents' in the past, that they see a guy who went to the defending SB champion, came in out of shape and got cut as poison. "Well damn, if he didn't want to put in the work for them and even the PATRIOTS couldn't deal with him, he must really be a dick..." Best guess I've got, anyway. A guy that size who is still relatively young shouldn't have been a FA. There had to be some stigma attached to the Patriots in particular cutting him loose. |
The Packers have a lot of issues IMO, and while Rogers' box score looked good besides the two picks, if you watched him in that game he was awful against that 49ers defensive live. Of course they were getting ample pressure from outside, and it doesn't help that besides Freeman, Tom, Dick, and Harry are his other WR's besides an old Jimmy Graham. So when ender pressure what did Rogers do, he bailed, tried to scramble out of the pocket even when there was NOTHING in front of him. All he had to do to beat the 49ers pass rush is step up and deliver the football. Play calling was also questionable. They opened up the game with a great screen pass to the RB, it went for 24 yards. I don't think they called a screen the rest of the game.
Not only has Mahomes been excellent at stepping up in the pocket in the playoffs, Reid has tons of plays and misdirection that will work against the 49ers aggressiveness on the Line. Cant wait for this game! |

I'd like to see them keep him around. |

He signed a 2 year/$10 million deal with NE before the season. It wasn't as though there was ZERO demand for him throughout the league last summer. And the stink of the Patriots cutting him will have clearly worn off. So he's probably gonna end up back in the $5 million/season range if you want to bring him back. So ultimately I think he's gone if they bring Jones back but perhaps stays if they don't. I just don't think they're getting him on a $2 million deal here. He's gonna cost some real money to keep. |

It's one of those situations where he's really good here and fits well with what they want, but if you pay him real money and the stuff around him isn't the same he may not really be as good. Ideally, you could get him for 2 or 3 years at 3.5/4 mil per. |

We have to sign Jones, Mahomes and a couple of CBs. |
