Chiefs exercise Mahomes' Fifth-Year Option

Well, we knew it wouldn't be easy.

He's going to get 50 mil a year.

Tyreek, Kelce, Watkins, Hardman, CEH

Sign him to the first-ever fully guaranteed NFL contract. 5/$200 million. 5 years is the longest an NFL team is allowed to spread out a signing bonus. I guess go 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 per year? 50 in year 4 is probably going to be in line with future QB contracts. Year 5 at 60 idk. Depending on the cap you can swap around the numbers per year as long as you end with $200 million. Maybe $300 million over 7 years with the final 2 years being $50 million each.

5 year $200 million with $125 million guaranteed

That’s about 15% more AAV than the highest in the league (Wilson at $35 million AAV)

$125 million guaranteed is way more than the league’s current highest (Matt Ryan at $94.5 million guaranteed)

**** the QB market to screw everyone but us bc Pat is the only player actually worth that $$

He'll be signed to a monster deal before the season starts

Finally!

when do u think?

I assume it will be closer to a 43-45 average but some of those years at the end of it are going to look crazy.

I don't know guys. I think this is a mistake. I think they should sign Andy Dalton and groom him to take over next year. Then grab a QB in next years draft in the second round or later and prepare him to take over. Just can't spend that much money on any one player. Not when we need to extend guys like Watkins, Jones, Sorenson, LDT, Fisher, etc.

OrtonsPiercedTaint 04-30-2020 10:14 AM

Incentives would be a waste of ink

They talked about using contract features from other QB deals. They’ll likely have multiple options in this deal for Mahomes to convert money to guaranteed and save cap space like what Frank Clark did a few weeks ago

As it goes with QBs, he’ll sign a crazy deal that has people saying, “Wow! That’s a crazy amount of money!” And in three years they’ll say, “Wow, that’s a reasonable salary!”

Need to trade Mahomes

KC got their SB

Time to get a ton of early rd picks and rebuild before Mahomes gets inj again.
