Rookies were awesome today

Boy did Burt Veach’s draft class stand out today. This was pretty much the “Chiefs rookie highlight reel” day.

Clyde-9 yards short of 100 total yards but was nice. That play where he broke 3 tackles was sweet.

Gay-he didn’t have a highlight per se but he did a lot of the dirty work. 1 tackle was coming across the field like a bullett to get a stop that would have been a big gainer if not for him.

Snead-Dude had good coverage in the slot against. He lead the team in tackles, which seems bad but he came up and made some nice tackles.

Danna-Holy shit. A sack, QB hit and 3 TFL’s. My God.

Wharton-sack, QB hit and a TFL. He was in Tua’s face a handful of times but didn’t get a stat bc Tua ran or threw it away.

Townsend-1 punt inside the 20, a really good 51 yard punt and a 58 yard bomb. That 58 yard beauty was the longest punt I can remember since Colquitt had one I believe 4 years ago?

Unbelievable job by our staff this year. This draft class looks special.

And you have to think Niang will significantly help our RT situation next year if Schwartz can’t come back healthy.

Yes. Excellent production by our rookies today. However, can we really called the udfa rookies part of the draft class? Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled that we have gotten so much from udfa's.

Yes UDFA’s are part of your rookie class.

I fail to see how selectively signing someone is different than drafting them. Hell It seems to me that they've got more stake in how the Chiefs perform since they were recruited and signed in KC.

What an amazing time to be a fan of this team.

Best ever QB

All time great WR

All time great TE

All time great head coach

One of the best owners in all of sports that isn’t afraid of signing huge checks to support the team

The best GM in the league to continue to bolster the roster with amazing deal after amazing deal and a true eye for talent in the draft.

High quality vets want to come here and play for almost nothing.

The law of averages is paying off...big time.

^This^ UDFA require more work than drafting someone. You compete for the talent with a plan and dollars, and you must hit on a few of these each year to help manage the cap...

dallaschiefsfan 12-14-2020 09:53 AM

Yeah...Danna and Wharton are what make this class stand out for me. Never saw their type of play coming. Veach seems to be getting better at this. Should frighten the rest of the league.

Agree... But you have some posters who would complain that a free bag of gold was to heavy...:(

They've been impressive.

I think Sneed appears to have the highest ceiling of the draft class, too. It'll be interesting to see how it all shakes out.

CaliforniaChief 12-14-2020 10:00 AM

Can we start Sneed from here on out and get Ward off the field? Sneed, Breeland, and Fenton look like the best combo of CB's at this point.

Lol wut?

Ward has been good since he got the cast off. All of those guys are playing.

ThaVirus 12-14-2020 10:04 AM

You can ever have too many good CBs. They've got their warts, but I feel like all of the guys are playing well in the scheme.

And the best part is, we've still got Baker waiting in the wings.

MahomesMagic 12-14-2020 10:07 AM

Yeah, Danna was the guy I thought could be a sleeper to make some noise in the Spags scheme in the off-season. Then out of nowhere...boom!

Great late pick.

Dante84 12-14-2020 10:10 AM

CB and DL are usually positions where you have to invest early (1-3) in the draft, or spend a shit ton in FA to get quality players.

The freedom that Wharton, Danna, Fenton & Sneed (and possibly Baker) are going to give us is under the radar as one of the best things we have going for us as we look 3 years down the road.

We are able to look elsewhere in the draft, and while these guys are on their cheap contracts, we are able to spend to retain our stars and pursue FA's.

If we can continue this hit rate in the draft, we aren't going anywhere for a while.
