The Early Years Tournament: Round 1, Heat 18.

2022 - Week 10 - W 27-17 over JAX
https://www.pro-football-reference.c...2211130kan.htm
Chiefs 6-2 / Jaguars 3-6

This was right after Toney joined us, so we got to see his gimp-leg touchdown on the sidelines. For the most part, this was a great Toney intro, because he made several exciting plays with leaping catches and slippery runs. Mahomes had a nice 331-yard, 4 TD game, albeit with one unfortunate INT, and our leading yardage guys, all with 80 to 90 each, were Toney, Pacheco, and Kelce. The defense harassed the opposing QB (Lawrence) with five sacks, led of course by Chris Jones with 1.5. Gay played a great game in pursuit with 8 tackles, and Bolton also had 8 tackles. We were up 20-0 before the Jaguars could react, and then we loosened the chokehold to let them breathe a little. The entire team looked good in this game, so we got to relax and watch the Chiefs dismantle an inferior team without much stress other than letting them get to within one score for a while in the second half.

2020 - Week 14 - W 33-27 over MIA
https://www.pro-football-reference.c...2012130mia.htm
Chiefs 11-1 / Dolphins 8-4

Wow, this game was weird. We weren't thriving for 3/4ths of the game and were trailing 0-10 partway through the second quarter, but fortunately we had a 15-minute stretch from the middle of the second quarter to the middle of the third quarter where we put up 30 points, with four TDs that AVERAGED 37 yards, and a Chris Jones safety. We were on a roll for a while there. Mahomes totaled 393 yards passing with two touchdowns, but also a shocking three interceptions. He made a textbook tackle on the first one, though. Beautiful tackle. Mahomes took three sacks, one of which was for a 30 yard net loss (yes, you read that right), and also a big hit on a rare fumbled snap. (Our OL was a bit beat up with Remmers and Allegretti starting.) Check out the beautiful bomb to Tyreek at 7:30 of the highlights, though, and earlier Tyreek had an amazing 44-yard touchdown run. He ended the game with 111 total yards and 2 TDs. However, the big yardage guy was Kelce with 136 yards and 1 TD. Check out the back foot throw and leaping catch at 9:30. Those guys are exceptional. So the Dolphins played a heck of a game, but we essentially needed one quarter to beat them. Danna, Clark, and Wharton all got sacks in addition to Jones, meaning that the defensive line was on high alert.

I don’t even have to watch these to know it’s going to be the Dolphins game.

From memory that one had the Mahomes sack for like a 30-yard loss, the crazy Xavier Howard one-handed INT, Tyreek Hill tight roping up the sideline for an end around TD, Tua hitting the TE in an insanely tight window for a TD, and I remember a big play by Hardman (want to say it was a punt return TD).

We scored 20 points in the blink of an eye. Really fun game.

I’m still gonna watch ‘em just to re-live the memories..

Well, that was fun.

The Jags game was a bit more fun than I remember. That was a great game if you want to see the sort of impact Toney can have in this offense. Special teams was absolutely dreadful that game, though.

Dolphins game has everything I remembered plus a pretty cool Watkins hurdle, a long bomb Tyreek TD, along with a couple weird Mahomes INTs.

I was surprised in the Jags game to hear that Toney got his first Chiefs TD before MVS did.

In retrospect, the 30-yard sack is kind of funny. We almost gave up a safety from the 33-yard line.

Looking back, that is apparently tied for the longest sack in NFL history. Patrick Mahomes II is always in the record books.

But wow, that 30-point tsunami was crazy. The Dolphins were playing pretty good and still got bum-rushed.

I watched the JAX game first and thought, "I am clearly going to vote for this one, what a breakout game for Toney!"
Then I watched the MIA game and it changed my mind. Some great defensive plays in that game including a safety - those are always special. Some spectacular catches and yacs.

That was my initial thought when I saw this game on the docket.

Then I watched the game and there were a lot more frustrating plays for us than I remembered. Mahomes threw 3 INTs and took a 30-yard sack lol

Ultimately, this is what helped pull the MIA win through. When we get going and the points just start cascading like that, it makes for an EXTREMELY enjoyable viewing experience.
