Generator and carb question
I have a Generac 8000 generator. Made sure it would start today. Luckily, it does.
It drips gas- when the valve is turned on when the generator is running or off. Drips more when the generator is off. It does not drip when- the valve is shut off Is there a float in the carb that is stuck open? Is that even a thing? Been a long time since I did of any of that . It ran for about 20 minutes tonight with seafoam in it What can I do to get it to stop dripping? beyond the obligatory |
Hey! It's all ball bearings nowadays. Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And I'm gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State.

Post a picture of the carb. But it will probably have either a single big bolt thru the bowl or 4 screws holding the bowl on. That being said it's 50% or less chance that spraying it out with carb cleaner is going to fix the sticky needle and seat.
My current favorite besides changing out with new is pull the needle and seat and polish the seat with brass polish on a q tip in a drill. Then clean and reinatall. |
Oh yeah the smart assed reply is to take 1 shots of antifreeze before doing so.

What sort of gasoline do you use in it? The stuff we burn in our daily drivers is meant to be used within a few weeks. The ethanol is hard on rubber parts that most small engines have. Probably needs a needle & seat if it's leaking. Depending on the engine involved, you don't want it leaking because it can drip into the engine and contaminate the oil.
Find a Taryl Fixes All video on YouTube; it isn't the Space Shuttle. You can fix it. |
OP reads like a Dr. Seuss book.

Who’s Barb?
That was my first thought as I read that as Penetrating Barb question. Then later I thought it said alligator and carp question. I’m on my phone and haven’t seen an eye doctor in over a decade. I’ve been a long time seafoam fan and user. Good stuff Good luck with Barb |
Choke your carb not Barb
