Good Grief…. C’mon World!

So Bob Uecker dies, David Lynch dies…. And today I hear about two buddies who lost their fathers yesterday and today. Then a colleague from work today comes in saying his birth mom died today. Now on my way home from work, two blocks from my house I get a flat tire. Oh, and I already have to wake up early tomorrow to sit on a zoom court call about my father’s stolen items.

I don’t know whether to hide in my closet or go buy a lottery ticket. This is nuts.

Not starting 2025 off with a bang. I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully you'll get a full years of bad luck out of the way, and the rest is easy street. May it start February 9th, if not sooner! :toast:

I think this year is going to break some people. There's 4 or 5 different events that could dramatically change the landscape of society and all are at a turning point. Is it positive or negative? Good or bad?

I don't think the current state of politics, sport, and entertainment lean us towards a collective improvement or shared community devoted to improvement like in tragedies passed. I think these things fed off the differences in large communities to divide us into smaller communities for their benefit and losing the types of people that Gabby speaks of may be the tail end of the people who are able to unite despite differences and overcome.
Then again perhaps GenX will un-**** itself come playoff time like the Chiefs do...

What? People die all the time. Everyone will die. It's what we all have in common. Sure, it really sucks when we have to experience the loss first hand, but this is not some new phenomena that we can't handle...

Things just happened to stack for the OP.

I had no idea anyone gave two shit about Bob Ueker.

Yes "people" die all the time. But not David Lynch and Bob Uecker. Those guys were the only thing still holding humanity together. Prepare for the end of times.

I thought GenX was the only generation that really had it's shit together.

Don't blame Gen X. We were raised by boomers. Or not raised, to be more accurate.

Don't worry, it will only get worse. Just enjoy the Chiefs games while they last....

Yep, it's amazing now, but the downfall will not be so pleasant.

We need to appreciate every game.

I get where you are coming from. My Mom dies Dec 22nd and Dad died last Sat right at kickoff. We were all gathered to watch the game together so at least 4 of the 5 kids were there.

Damn, dude. Much love coming your way.

Parents had 10 kids and buried around half of them. It's not that bad

Your thoughts on Bob were just a bit outside.
