I think the difference in yards so far is more of a matter of the number of throws, though. I did not expect 37 attempts/game. He's on pace for nearly 600 attempts.
I also expected a better completion percentage, well north of 60%. Hopefully that picks up. If it does, that's when we'll start seeing more sustained drives and TDs instead of FGs. (Not saying it's specifically his fault or anything like that; it's a product of system, blocking, receivers, and him). That'll help boost his yardage numbers as well (better average, etc), get him out of the bottom third of the league.

I also expected a better comp% and this game did not help, as he was 60+ before this game and was WAY off the mark all day.
Missed some wide open guys.
BUT Reid seems to be getting him to look more down field and it really looks like the O is a work in progress with a ton of potential. Its exciting.
And Like Clay says, thankfully the D came out of the gate with a head of steam, and Smith and the O have time to get better.
Hopefully by week 10 we are healthy, and hitting on all cylinders.
