Exactly! You can subsidize that woman's policy, give her free "health coverage" and sleep better at night bc of that. But if she couldn't afford insurance before the bill, it doesn't change her financial situation by giving her a card that says BCBS and calling the problem fixed.
How is she going to pay her deductible? And after that, how is she going to pay her coinsurance until the max OOP is reached? Money doesn't just magically appear. The truth is, the collective "we" payed her premiums. And the collective "we" are going to pay her remaining balances, no different than before when she had no health insurance.
