2009: 1400 yards for Thomas Jones, 540 yards for Shonn Green, 330 yards for Leon Washington. All three over 4 yards/carry. Team rushed for 2756 yards at 4.5 ypc. 607 of 1030 plays were rushes (59%)
2010: 900 yards for LaDanian Tomlinson, 760 yards for Shonn Green, 180 yards for Joe McKnight, 300 yards for Brad Smith. Team rushed for 2374 yards at 4.4 ypc. 534 of 1087 plays were rushes (49%)
Obviously the Chiefs aren't even close to that. We've only rushed 255 times in 596 plays (43%), and Alex Smith himself accounts for 20% of those runs (53), most of which came on broken pass plays. He's also responsible for just under a quarter of the team's rushing yards. They'll be lucky to reach 2000 yards rushing for the year at their current clip. Of course many of Charles' catches supplement that, but the point remains that this is not a power running team like the Jets were in Sanchez's first two seasons.
