The BBC releases an official synopsis for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary special, The Day Of The Doctor...

We're but weeks way now from the 50th anniversary celebration episode of Doctor Who, The Day Of The Doctor. The episode is set to screen in cinemas around the world and on television too, all on Saturday November 23rd. And as you more than likely know, David Tennant will be returning to the TARDIS, where he'll join Matt Smith in a special one-off episode. That Hurt fella is around as well.

The BBC is still keeping things pretty much under wraps, but it has now released an official synopsis in advance of the episode's transmission. And here's what you have to look forward to:

"The Doctors embark on their greatest adventure in this 50th anniversary special. In 2013, something terrible is awakening in London’s National Gallery; in 1562, a murderous plot is afoot in Elizabethan England; and somewhere in space an ancient battle reaches its devastating conclusion. All of reality is at stake as the Doctor’s own dangerous past comes back to haunt him".
