I already told you the Ryan leaf story. He refused to pay the teams exorbitant dinner and seau wrestled his credit card away. Then he popped leaf hard in practice to send a message. Dez refused to do the same and complained about carrying Roy Williams stuff and got blasted on social media for it.
You are blind if you don't think it's a huge problem that veteran players are using locker room pressure to force rookies to take money out of their own pocket to pay for BS.

Was some Las Vegas airfare a huge financial hardship for him? He signed a 4 year, $4.7 million contract when he was drafted and he received a $1.9 million signing bonus.
Is it right that the rookies pay for this trip every year? Well, no, but if I'm the rookie and I just got paid $6 million, and the choice here is between building a relationship with the rest of the team by adhering to social conventions and respecting this tradition, going on a trip where everyone parties together and if this is going to help my career, I wouldn't make a huge issue of it. It's a business expense. It's like buying a set of golf clubs so you can play with the guys in the office at a new job. Even though I dont particularly enjoy golf if it helps my career get off to a good start, why not?
In any case, even if I decided not to go along with it and refused, and I received harrassment about it, I wouldn't quit over it.
