He does make a very good point. No one knew of Cooper and had the 49ers not drafted him, it's likely he'd have signed elsewhere and wouldn't have been on waivers.

The main part of an agent's job is not only to sell the player/person but to sell themselves. It's why the best QB's in the biz always wanted to sign with Leigh Steinberg back in the day or why the best baseball players always sign with Scott Boras.

Some agents just have appeal that others don't.
