If you want to pillory him for the Nebraska game, I get it. Still, watching that game provides more perspective than the stat line. I've never seen college receivers more blanketed than Missouri's were in that game. Nebraska's CBs had them shrink-wrapped. No Missouri QB ever was winning that game with those players and that defense.

Furthermore, do a 1:1 comparison of the 2010 Missouri Offense Compared to 2007 or 2013. How many skill position players or linemen are you taking from that team? Is it more than one?

The problem with the debate over these QBs is that they have always ignored context. Taking that 2010 team to a 10-3 record is one of the most amazing accomplishments of Pinkel's tenure.
That season was smoke and mirrors. It took an act of God to beat San Diego State. We were down 24-20 with less than a minute left when Moe caught a 2 yard pass, watched two defenders collide, and took it 68 yards for the TD.

Prior to that gift, Gabbert was 27-50 with no TDs and 2 INTs.

Here is Gabbert's 4th quarter (20-14 Mizzou...Mizzou ball 3rd and 11 from our own 30)

Incomplete pass (0-1)...Mizzou punts

Drive 2...one play (RB fumble...not Blaine's fault)

Drive 3...Blaine gets sacked on first down
Incomplete pass on 3rd down (0-2)

TD makes it 21-20 SDSU

Drive 4...Blaine throws the ball 3 times. No completions.

Drive 5...Blaine throws seven passes completing 4 of them for 28 yards before throwing an INT.

SDSU FG makes it 24-20 SDSU

Drive 6...Gabbert throws 2 passes. One incomplete...one intercepted

Drive 7...Miracle to Moe

This is who Blaine Gabbert was. He made great plays, and he made disastrous plays. He was the antithesis of a game manager, and there is no way a guy like that guides us to an undefeated season in the SEC. For every game we won because of him, we lost one because of him.

He was a good QB...but he's easily below Smith, Daniel, Franklin, and Mauk.
