1) Missouri will have a better fan presence in Dallas due to location, ease of travel, and the large Mizzou alumni base in Dallas.
2) Starting next year, the Cotton Bowl is a major bowl. To the average fan, in 10-15 years, they'll look at those two Cotton Bowl trophies from 2007 and this year (should Mizzou win) as big-time appearances/wins.
3) Would much rather play a top 15 Oklahoma State team than an unranked Wisconsin or Iowa. Good chance to earn back some more national respect.

Edit: Most people aren't old enough to remember that the Cotton Bowl used to be one of the major bowls. Not sure when it took a backseat status, but it appears that the Cotton Bowl and Peach Bowl (another of the old bowl games) will take their place in the BCS status starting next year.
