Here's what you are wrong about Brainiac-- even men of science have ridiculed and suppressed scientific knowledge that is new. Look what was done to Dr. Semmelweis because established scientific and medical opinions of his time were that diseases were an imbalance of the basic "four humours" whereby bloodletting was DOGMA of the day.

It's part of the nature of mankind to act like this when something challenges current orthodoxy or accepted opinions of one's day. It's called cultural lag and it doesn't just happen in religious institutions. That's the view of bigots.
