RE:CZ - I have a few of 'em, I think they build really good guns for the money and before the Rooshians gave up their empire the Czechs were about the only group that invented their own stuff instead of just taking Rooski hand-me-downs. So they invented a few things while the rest of E. Europe was just in limbo. Good on 'em, sez I.

I have their little 452 rifle - a .22 trainer that's a 'minature mauser'. Accurate, nice looking, they're a lot spendier now than when I got mine but that's just the $USDollar turning into really nice paper and not much else.

I also have a CZ 550 in 6.5x55 (Swedish Mauser) - in full stock mode. The 6.5x55 is an old bullet, as noted the Swedish army used it for many years (I have a few old Swede Mausers and lots of ammo, thought I'd get another gun for the ammo). The rifle is a beauty queen, and that old 6.5x55 hits downrange like a mule, a lot more 'oomph' than you'd think. Not much kick, lots of punch...what's not to like.

And I have a CZ 82, a Czech 'cop gun' from the iron curtain days. Uses the 9x18 russian ammo that they used after WWII, a decent 'cop gun' for their purposes (not a lot of 'shooting back' in the old days) Danged accurate little pistol. Cheap when I got mine as surplus, nobody wants to sell theirs so the price has gone up a bit.

The czechs were among the few countries with an existing arms industry when the Russians took over after WWII and the Nazi's had used the Czech factories to build Mausers - the Czechs kept building mausers - why not? Good design. But they learned to make some 'customer demand' changes over the years. That 452 .22 is a tiny mauser rifle, down to the safety, it just has a 'half stock' and shoots .22 ammo. The 455 is 'son of Mauser' - and has the sweetest trigger of any gun I own. Plus, it's a beauty queen. Y'all go get yourselves 2 or 3.
